Ideal Industries names vice chairman

Ideal Industries, a manufacturer of tools and suppliers for electrical contractors, has named Jim James as the vice chairman of its board of directors. James, who also serves as president and CEO, will assume these additional duties immediately.

James joined Ideal Industries in August 2008 as president and CEO. Previous to that, he served as president of ITW Building Components Group, a division of Illinois Tool Works.

Former Wolseley exec to lead ProBuild

ProBuild Holdings has announced the appointment of Robert Marchbank, the former CEO of European operations for Wolseley, as its new CEO.  Fred Marino, who had filled the role of interim CEO for the past several months, will continue to serve as vice chairman of the company’s board of directors.

Consumers still spending on holidays despite economic concern

Despite concerns about the economy and rising household expenses, nearly three out of five (59%) consumers will put aside economic worries and spend the same or more this holiday season, according to Deloitte’s 26th annual survey of holiday spending intentions and trends. While this is a slight decline from 2010, it represents an eight-percentage point increase from 2009.

William Farrell retires from AHMA

The 30-year AHMA veteran will retire as vice chairman of the American Hardware Manufacturers Association (AHMA), but will remain as a liftetime honorary member of the board.

After more than 30 years of service to the AHMA, Farrell will assume the title of vice chairman emeritus, according to the Schaumburg, Ill.-based industry group. He will continue to represent the association at various industry events.
