In a pilot now being conducted in San Francisco, the U.S. Postal Service is experimenting with a same-day delivery service of e-commerce packages. The project, called “Metro Post,” will begin on or about Dec. 12 in San Francisco and run for the next 12 months, according to John Friess, a public relations representative for the postal service.

If all goes well, the Post Office has selected more than two dozen cities that are large, densely populated metro areas that could support the Metro Post business model, according to Friess.

“All-American Muslim,” a TV reality show that followed the daily lives of five Dearborn, Mich. Arab-American Muslim families, was canceled because of low ratings, according to the network.

Fort Wayne, Ind.-based co-op Do it Best Corp. named company veteran Randy Rusk as its new communications director.

In the position, Rusk will help develop and implement the Do it Best Corp. communications strategy and manage all internal and external communications efforts, including video, education and training initiatives, creative development and campaign execution, as well as media and public relations.

Boucherville, Quebec-based RONA, the largest Canadian distributor and retailer of hardware, renovation and gardening products, announced the appointment of Michelle Laberge as senior director of communications and public affairs. 

She will report to Claude Bernier executive VP marketing and customer innovations.

Laberge joins RONA from MSL Canada, a public relations agency where she was VP for its consumer division, representing clients such as Procter & Gamble, Indigo Chapters and Fujifilm

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed suit against Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe’s March 30, for allegedly requiring an employee of its Morristown, Tenn., store to work on Sunday.

“Lowe's Home Centers committed religious discrimination by requiring an employee to work on his Sabbath, and by harassing and retaliating against the employee, causing him to lose hours,” the EEOC said in a release issued March 31.
