Lowe's revealed its plans Tuesday to build a new Customer Support Center in Indianapolis, which is expected to reach completion by 2016.

The announcment was made with Lowe's officials in the company of Indiana Governor Mike Pence and Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard.

Bob Taylor, president and CEO of Do it Best Corp., and Sikeston Mayor Jerry Pullen cut the ribbon on the 550,000-sq.-ft. facility, which will serve as the co-op’s strategic hub for product distribution to members throughout the Midwest and central United States.

The mayor of Washington, D.C., is considering a proposal that hike the miminum wage in the district for big retailers. 

The plan calls for a $12.50 minimum wage – well above the current $8.25 – for employees of companies with $1 billion or more in sales and stores measuring at least 75,000 square feet.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony on the Spring Lake, N.J., boardwalk included Spring Lake Mayor Jennifer Naughton at Pier Beach and council members holding signs saying: "Spring Lake: Stronger Than the Storm."

Mayor Naughton thanked city workers for bringing the Hurricane Sandy-battered boardwalk back to the community ahead of schedule. 

The Spring Lake boardwalk was rebuilt using TimberTech, a splinter-free, low-maintenance, composite decking.
