Faucet Queen’s Helping Hand brand of convenience-oriented home hardware is the market leader in serving the food and drug retail trade, the company said. The Faucet Queen business will continue to operate out of the current Vernon Hills, Ill., facility.

PPG Industries, the Pittsburgh-based coatings company, has promoted Kevin McDonald to the role of VP fiber glass.

Beginning March 1, McDonald will transition from his current role as PPG general manager, reinforcements and leader for fiber glass in the Americas and EMEA. He will succeed Thomas Kerr, who is retiring effective the same day.

Masonite International Corporation has hired Mike Nelson as VP and business leader of Masonite Architectural Door Systems, as well as Tony Hair as VP and business leader, Residential Door Business.

In his newly created role, Nelson will oversee financial performance, strategic planning, customer support, sales, marketing, branding and product strategy for the segment, which was developed after a series of strategic acquisitions boosted Masonite's commercial and architectural doors portfolio.

By Oct. 1, 2013, employees should have received a required notice about their options under federal- or state-run health care exchanges (marketplaces), notices that many will find more confusing than enlightening. Employers also may be making changes to rules that determine which employees are eligible for health coverage, perhaps excluding part-time workers who previously received coverage.

Fortune Brands Home & Security has made a strategic move to strengthen its position as the self-titled industry leader in cabinetry through its acquisition of WoodCrafters Home Products, completed on Thursday, June 20.

WoodCrafters, a privately owned manufacturer of bathroom vanities and bathroom sink tops with annual sales of $230 million, will become part of Fortune's Kitchen & Bath Cabinetry segment as a business unit of MasterBrand Cabinets. WoodCrafters will retain its current management structure, staff, operations and locations.

Cleveland-based Sherwin-Williams Co. agreed to acquire Consorcio Comex, S.A. de C.V., a leader in the paint and coatings market in Mexico with headquarters in Mexico City. 

Comex sells architectural and industrial coatings in Mexico through 3,300 units operated by 750 concessionaires. Sherwin-Williams will pay approximately $2.34 billion, including assumed debt, in an all-cash transaction, the company announced Monday morning.

Christian Miller Snavely, Jr., the chairman emeritus of Snavely Forest Products , World War II veteran and past chairman of the North American Wholesale Lumber Association died Oct. 24. He was 88.

Snavely is remembered by friends and colleagues as a generous and well-respected business leader. He was elected chairman of the industry trade association, NAWLA, which honored him with the prestigious Mulrooney Award for outstanding contributions to the forest products industry.

That’s among the findings revealed by a survey of primarily U.S.-based mid-level to senior-level rewards professionals, as reported in Retention of Key Talent and the Role of Rewards, a report published in June 2012 by WorldatWork, an association of total rewards professionals.
