Parr Lumber will open its latest window and door showroom on Oct. 8 in Portland, Ore. Called Aloha Window and Door, the 2,900-sq.-ft. design center will feature each of the three top window types, vinyl, fiberglass and wood. The vinyl windows feature Jeld-Wen, Milgard, Cascade and Ply-Gem. Fiberglass windows include Marvin Integrity and Milgard and the wood windows include Jeld-Wen, Marvin and Andersen.

The product is designed to meet consumer demand for fiberglass doors in hardwood grains with 3/4-glass options. It can be ordered as a solid, opaque unit or configured for either 3/4-rectangle or 3/4-oval lites in 17 different decorative glass options, plus four privacy options, clear Low-E and clear glass.

Fastener maker Simpson Strong-Tie has announced the acquisition of Fox Industries, a manufacturer of cementitious, epoxy, urethane, elastomeric and polyester coatings, grouts, mortars, adhesives, sealers, sealants, and membranes and custom manufactured fiberglass parts for the marine, industrial, transportation, commercial building and public works industries. The Baltimore-based company was founded in 1969.

Greenville, S.C.-based Guardian Building Products has named Steven Ziessler as president of the fiberglass insulation manufacturer and building products distributor.

Ziessler replaces the retiring Duane Faulkner, and will oversee the worldwide operations of Guardian's building products business, including manufacturing, marketing, distribution and product development.

Ziessler’s background includes positions at Kimberly-Clark, Cellu Tissue and Clearwater Paper.

Diboll, Texas-based Temple-Inland expanded its GreenGlass family of products to include a tile backer.

GreenGlass features a built-in, moisture-blocking acrylic coating that resists water penetration through its surface, plus a water-resistant gypsum core formulated to include the TemShield Mold Protection System. Faced on both sides with naturally mold- and moisture-resistant fiberglass mats, this combination has been shown to be highly mold-resistant in tests.

Knauf Insulation, the Shelbyville, Ind.-based manufacturer, has filed a patent infringement action against CertainTeed Corp. in an Indiana federal court. According to the lawsuit, Knauf Insulation mineral wool is made with ECOSE technology, a sustainable binder technology based on rapidly renewable bio-based materials rather than petroleum-based chemicals commonly used in traditional fiberglass insulation products.

Owens Corning is the new preferred fiberglass insulation provider to Masco Contractor Services, in a deal announced Monday. The partnership between the two companies is designed to create a more efficient supply chain.

"Working closely with Owens Corning enhances Masco Contractor Services' ability to grow its sales," said Timothy Wadhams, President and CEO at Masco Corporation.  "Collaboration throughout the supply chain will create efficiencies in logistics, lower working capital, consistent supply and better service for its customers."
