The International Housewares Association, the Rosemont, Illinois-based trade group for the housewares industry, announced that Dave Elliott, general manager, KitchenAid Global Small Appliances has been elected IHA chairman of the board.

Elliott joined Whirlpool Corp. in February 2009. Whirlpool is the parent company of KitchenAid and the largest manufacturer of major and small appliances in the world. Before joining Whirlpool, he worked for Jarden Corp. from 1997 to 2009, where he was VP of global marketing with responsibility for personal comfort and wellness products.

Mathias Klein III will retire as chairman of the board of Lincolnshire, Illinois-based Klein Tools  in June, 2015 but will continue to serve on the company’s board of directors.

Paul Johnson, president of Interiors One Inc., Carpet One in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has been elected chairman of the board of the World Floor Covering Association (WFCA). He fills the role vacated by Janice Clifton of Abbey Carpets in Napa, California.

Restoration Hardware Holdings has appointed Dr. Leonard Schlesinger to its board of directors. He will also serve as the chairman of the board’s compensation committee.

Dr. Schlesinger has held executive leadership positions at various retail and consumer brands, including vice chairman and COO of Limited Brands from 1999 to 2007, and is an esteemed leader in academia having served for more than 20 years as a professor of business administration at Harvard Business School, and as the president of Babson College.

During the 2014 Spring Business Meeting, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry named immediate past president Art Donnelly of Legacy Builders & Remodelers Corp. in Mount Sinai, N.Y., as its chairman of the board.

According to the group, Donnelly will continue to focus on helping NARI provide positive experiences for its members and their customers through professional and educational opportunities.

Oak Brook, Ill.-based Ace Hardware Corporation, the industry’s largest retailer-owned hardware cooperative, recognized Les Orchekowsky of Sierra Vista, Ariz., with Ace’s first-ever Ray A. Griffith Retail Leadership Award.

Named after Ace’s former CEO Ray A. Griffith who retired in March 2013, the award will be given annually to the Ace retailer that most personifies Griffith’s outstanding leadership traits and exemplifies Ace’s core values.

Kevin Kelly, a Delaware builder and developer, has taken the helm as National Association of Home Builders' chairman of the board.

Kelly is president of Leon N. Weiner & Associates, Inc., and became actively involved with the Home Builders Association of Delaware when he joined the company in 1979. His building experience includes land development, multifamily and single-family home building, with an emphasis on affordable housing.

Effective Jan. 1, Cynthia Jamison will succeed James Wright as chairman of the board at Tractor Supply.

Jamison has served as lead director with the board since 2010, which she joined in 2002. Previously, she served as CFO of Australian irrigation company AquaSpy Inc. and was a partner with professional services firm Tatum LLC, where she served as CFO and COO for various companies.

Indianapolis -- During its annual shareholders meeting, Do it Best Corp. CEO Bob Taylor and chairman of the board Tom Lamberth leaned on a variety of statistics to describe the state of the co-op. 

Most metrics were in the positive column, with annual gross sales up 4.4% to $2.80 billion, compared with $2.68 billion in 2012, which had an extra week on the calendar. (The co-op’s fiscal year ended June 29.)

Thomas Wroe Jr., Sensata Technologies' chairman of the board and former CEO, will serve as chairman and will also be a member of the board's Compensation Committee. Terry Klebe, retired Cooper Industries vice chairman and CFO, will serve as Chair of the Audit Committee.

Chicago -- True Value Company kicked off its annual fall market here in Chicago with the promise of a "new market experience."

The Sept. 20-22 event is branded as the co-op's "Reunion," with adjustments to the schedule and show floor layout -- and most notably, new leadership. The event will be the first market for new CEO John Hartmann, and dealers will also get to mingle with chairman of the board Brent Burger.

Three executives with long tenures retired from Memphis, Tenn.-based Orgill this month: Bill Fondren, Ken Post and Steve East.

Fondren retired as chairman of the board, but he will remain as a board member. Ron Beal will assume the chairman of the board post.

Ken Post was chief merchandise officer, a position to be filled by Brett Hammers. And Steve East was VP advertising. His replacement is Jeff Curler.

Window and door manufacturer Andersen has named Jay Lund, its president and CEO since March 2011, as its new chairman of the board. Lund will replace chairman Jim Humphrey, who officially retires from his board role on Feb. 22, 2013, as part of a planned transition. Humphrey joined Andersen in 1999, served as president and CEO from 2003 to 2011 and was named chairman of the board in February 2008. He joined Andersen following a 31-year career at Armstrong World Industries.
