The phenomenon of early Christmas merchandising, known as “Christmas Creep,” is overshadowing Halloween this year, the newspaper reported.

The Ace Hardware store at Tri City Plaza in Largo, Fla., has closed its doors, according to an article in the St. Petersburg Times.

A hand-written sign in the store's front door explains to customers: "After 36 years, we are closing our doors. Thank you for being a part of our lives, and allowing us to be a part of yours."

Owner Bob Hoag, a former hospital administrator from Michigan, and his wife, Mary Jane Hoag, purchased the store from the original owners four years ago.

The modular home currently residing in the IBS Show Village in the parking lot outside the Orange County Convention Center here in Orlando will soon be shipped away to a veteran in need through the Rebuilding Together charity and Sears' Heroes at Home.
