No matter how you slice them, the numbers of the HCN Top 300 Industry Scoreboard reflect the rising housing market, increased spending on the home and an easy comparison with the previous year's performance.

Of the leading 300 home channel retailers, 277 show positive sales in the most recently completed finished fiscal year, and 12 show declines. Eleven others are listed as flat.

ProBuild Holdings, the nation's largest pro dealer, has decided to close down some of its newly built facilities in the Pittsburgh area, as well as operations in Hagerstown, Md. 

An HCN confirmation of an internal memo by ProBuild CEO Rob Marchbank last week showed that the Denver-based pro dealer has revisited its decision to operate three brand new LBM facilities in the Pittsburgh region. 

An attempt to reach ProBuild for comment or explanation received no response.

ProBuild Holdings, the nation’s largest LBM chain, reduced its employee head count by 127 positions, according to an article in the Denver Business Journal. The cuts were spread across the nation and targeted administration positions, including jobs in finance and human resources.

ProBuild Holdings, the nation’s largest pro dealer, has announced a restructuring that will eliminate several high-level management positions, lay off a number of people and institute a hiring freeze at its Denver headquarters.

In an internal memo obtained by Home Channel News, ProBuild’s CEO Rob Marchbank outlined the new leadership and reporting structure of the Denver-based company. The executive VP operations layer of management will be eliminated, and all senior VPs operations will report directly to Marchbank.

ProBuild Holdings will hold a grand opening on March 14 for its newest location, a ground-up facility in Morgantown, W.Va. The 35,000-sq.-ft. lumberyard will offer lumber, building materials, windows, exterior doors, siding and trim, and a variety of hardware  items to builders, contractors and do-it-yourself enthusiasts.

ProBuild Holdings has announced the appointment of Robert Marchbank, the former CEO of European operations for Wolseley, as its new CEO.  Fred Marino, who had filled the role of interim CEO for the past several months, will continue to serve as vice chairman of the company’s board of directors.

ProBuild Holdings will close most of its operations in the Nashville market, which it serves from Smyrna, Tenn., the company has confirmed.

The Denver-based LBM chain, the nation’s largest, will continue to deliver gypsum board to its customers from its Spring Hill location outside of Nashville. But its lumber, millwork and components manufacturing businesses in Smyrna, 13 miles from Nashville, will close on Dec. 16.

ProBuild's Jennifer Thurman, VP corporate communications, confirmed the executive's departure but declined to elaborate. Todd's departure from the company follows other recent executive departures -- president of operations Jim Cavanaugh in August,and CEO Bill Myrick in July.

Barton Supply is a fabricator and distributor of structural and reinforcing steel products and accessories with locations in Aurora, Colorado Springs and Fort Collins, Colo., serving general contractors, foundation and framing sub-contractors, and home builders.

ProBuild Holdings CEO Bill Myrick is no longer with the Denver-based pro dealer, according to an internal memo obtained by Home Channel News.

The email was distributed Monday morning to ProBuild Holdings employees informing them that Myrick, who held the title of president and CEO, is no longer with the company. Fred Marino will take over as CEO, while a search for a permanent replacement is launched, according to the memo. Marino currently serves as vice chairman of the board of ProBuild.

The memo was from Perry Odak, chairman of ProBuild.
