Westinghouse Solar has launched a fully integrated “plug and play” solar panel system that can be installed without racking and panel-to-panel wiring. “Instant Connect” operates via a set of UL-approved electrical connectors that are integrated directly into the sides of each solar panel, allowing them to automatically plug together when mounted on the roof.

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has decided to move forward with an investigation into claims that imports of crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells and modules from China are allegedly subsidized and sold in the United States at less than fair value. All six Commissioners voted in the affirmative.

DuPont acquired Innovalight, Inc., a company specializing in advanced silicon inks and process technologies that increase the efficiency of crystalline silicon solar cells. 

The acquisition strengthens DuPont's position as a leader in materials for the solar energy market, according to the company. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

IKEA plans to install solar PV systems on six more of its locations in the Eastern United States, the company announced.

The installations are expected to begin in late spring with completion later this fall, provided the projects receive governmental permits.

The company recently plugged in a solar project in Colorado.

Allied Building Products, one of the industry’s leading distributors of exterior building products, is adding solar panels and accessories to its lineup in a special pro-oriented display. Solar products will have a dedicated area within Allied's Contractor Tool Center, which the company opened on May 12 at its East Rutherford, N.J., headquarters.

Los Angeles-based home builder KB Home and Newhall Land have announced a land purchase agreement in the West Hills Village in Valencia, Calif. KB Home acquired 43 finished lots from Newhall Land and will begin construction on a new community in June.

The homes will be energy efficient and will include solar power systems. KB Home has also announced plans to open 10 communities in Southern California; all of the homes will be built with photovoltaic solar systems.

A Net Zero photovoltaic system is one of the environmentally friendly features of Park Centre Homes at La Posada in Green Valley, Ariz. The development is a collaboration between La Posada and Pepper-Viner Homes, both award-winning for their environmentally friendly designs and initiatives, according to the companies.

Each home is oriented to the homesite to capture the heat of the sun. In addition, the homes will utilize a Net Zero photovoltaic system with the potential to reduce energy costs by more than 85%.
