Dr. BJ Yeh has been named chairman of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) 1369 Technical Committee on Wood-Based Panels.

The Committee puts out four national consensus standards on plywood and oriented strand board in Canada: CSA O121 Candian Douglas Fir Plywood, CSA O151 Canadian Softwood Plywood, CSA O153 Poplar Plywood and CSA O325 Construction Sheathing.

Yeh is also director of technical services for APA-The Engineered Wood Association, which sponsors CSA standards on wood structural panels and structural glued laminated timber.

Oak Brook, Illinois-based Ace Hardware reported November same-store sales were up 9.9% over November 2013.

In addition, same-store transactions improved by 4.9% year over year.

According to Ace President and CEO John Venhuizen, the gains came despite the decision of most Ace stores to remain closed on Thanksgiving. “November same-store sales were up 9.9 percent, and looking ahead, I’m confident that many of our loyal and local consumers will find equally compelling values for their last-minute Christmas shopping needs at their neighborhood Ace.”

The coating competition will heat up in March as Lowe’s rolls out HGTV HOME by Sherwin-Williams.

The HGTV HOME by Sherwin-Williams product line will feature what both companies describe as “a new and improved interior and exterior paint program.” The line will be available at both Sherwin-Williams' company stores and Lowe's stores nationwide, as well as exclusive line extensions available at Lowe's.
