Sales of new single-family houses in August 2011 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 295,000, according to estimates released jointly by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The figure is 2.3% below the revised July rate of 302,000, but is 6.1% above the August 2010 estimate of 278,000.

The median sales price of new houses sold in August 2011 was $209,100; the average sales price was $246,000.

Sales of new single-family houses in June 2011 slipped 1.0% compared with the previous month, according to an estimate released today by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. 

New residential sales in June 2011 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 312,000, down from the revised May rate of 315,000. Compared with June 2010, housing sales were up 1.6%.

The median sales price of new houses sold in June 2011 was $235,200; the average sales price was $269,000.

Sales of new single-family homes in May 2011 dropped an estimated 2.1% over the previous month, according to figures released on June 23 by the U. S. Commerce Department. 

May’s seasonally adjusted number, 319,000 units, was below April’s 326,000 units but 13.5% above May 2010’s new-home sales of 281,000.

New home sales in March increased to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 300,000, according to data released today by the Department of Commerce.

The new residential sales activity is 11.1% ahead of the upwardly revised February rate of 270,000, but it is down 21.9% from the March 2010 pace of 384,000.

While still at historical lows, March's pace of new home sales was higher than the 280,000 rate predicted by analysts.

Sales of new single-family homes in February fell to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 250,000, according to a report released Wednesday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The February stat is the lowest since the government began keeping track in 1963.

New-home sales for the month are 16.9% below the revised January rate of 301,000 and 28.0% below the estimate from February 2010.

Also, the report estimated the median sales price of new homes sold in February was $202,100, the lowest since December 2003.

Sales of new single-family houses in January 2011 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 284,000, according to estimates released jointly Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The pace is 12.6% below the revised December rate of 325,000. January sales were 18.6% below the January 2010 estimate of 349,000.

Sales of new single-family houses in December 2010 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 329,000, up 17.5% from the November pace of 280,000. 

The December estimate, released jointly by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, is the highest since April 2010. That month saw a relative frenzy of buying as the $8,000 tax credit for first-time home buyers expired April 30. 

The December new home sales figure is also 7.6% below the December 2009 estimate of 356,000.

Sales of new single-family houses in November 2010 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 290,000, according to estimates released jointly by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development -- a 5.5% increase over October.

However, the figure is 21.2% below the same month last year.
