H&S Ace Hardware, an 80-year-old hardware store in Louisville, Ky., closed last month under pressure from its creditors, according to an article in the Courier-Journal.

Store manager Dave Phelps told the newspaper that the company's secured creditors ordered that the 135,000-sq.-ft. store be shuttered.

GE Appliances has opened its GeoSpring Hybrid Water Heater manufacturing facility at Appliance Park in Louisville, Ky. -- the first to open there since 1957. The new product and a revitalized facility, a $38 million investment, is the first of GE’s commitments to invest a total of $1 billion ($800 million in Louisville) and create more than 1,300 new jobs in the United States by 2014.

An education tour that kicked off June 20 hit its final stop this month, as the BehrPro  Experience Tour rolled into a Louisville, Ky. Home Depot.

Since June 20, the tour has traveled to more than 400 Home Depot stores, educating customers on Behr's professional products and services.

Brownsboro Hardware & Paint of Louisville, Ky. opened its second location, according to a report in the Louisville Biz Journal. 

The new store is located in the former site of a Vance's True Value Hardware in the Prospect Pointe shopping center in Prospect, Ky.

Line-X, a maker of protective coatings, recently provided the Louisville Metro Police Department’s K-9 Unit with a $10,000 contribution toward the refurbishment of its kennel facility, which is in dire need of repair and upgrades. The money will be used to provide the materials and manpower to spray the facility with LINE-X, which will help protect the kennel against decades of peeling paint and rust.
