KB Home reported third-quarter revenues increased 16% to $424.5 million, compared with $367.3 million in the third quarter of 2011. The company cited growth in the number of homes delivered and a higher average selling price for the increase.

Net income for the quarter ended Aug. 31 totaled $3.3 million, up $12.9 million from a net loss of $9.6 million in the year-earlier quarter.

KB Home has acquired land within the Elworthy Ranch property in the town of Danville, Calif. Development of the site will begin soon, and the home builder expects groundbreaking on new model homes before the end of the year. KB Home plans to construct 84 Built to Order single-family homes in the new community, Quail Ridge.

KB Home, one of the nation’s largest home builders, reported revenues for its first fiscal quarter of $254.6 million, up 29% from $196.9 million for the first quarter of 2011, reflecting higher deliveries and an increase in the average selling price.

KB Home posted a $45.8 million loss for the quarter, which ended Feb. 29, 2012, compared with a $114.5 million loss in the first period a year ago.

KB Home is being sued by a group of homeowners in Cary, N.C., because it installed weather barriers behind fiber cement siding in some residential developments but not others, according to a case summary provided by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly. 

A Business Court judge certified the lawsuit, describing the class as "all persons in the state of North Carolina who own a home that was constructed by KB Homes without a weather-restrictive barrier behind the exterior veneer of Hardiplank cement fiber lap siding."

KB Home is expanding its presence in the Durham, N.C., market with Orchard Ridge, a new community of Built to Order single-family homes. KB Home already has four other communities currently open in the Durham area.

A grand opening is planned for Oct. 29 from noon to 3 p.m. 

KB Home and Build San Antonio Green (BSAG) have announced the start of their partnership by recognizing KB Home's first BSAG-Certified home, located in San Antonio, at an event at KB Home's La Fontana community. The first certified home, named ZeroHouse 2.0, is KB Home's first net-zero energy home and goes beyond the BSAG program's guidelines. 

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has honored KB Home’s Primera Terra community with a 2011 LEED for Homes award. The LEED Platinum project, one of the largest in California, was recognized as the best in the Multi-Family category.

Los Angeles-based home builder KB Home reported revenues of $367.3 million for its third fiscal quarter, down 27% from $50 million in the third quarter of 2010.

The decrease was mainly due to a 31% year-over-year decrease in the number of homes delivered to 1,603, the company said, which was partly offset by a 6% year-over-year increase in the average selling price to $227,400.

KB Home has opened a new home community in Valencia, Calif., also known as "Awesometown." KB Home's Milan at West Hills offers solar power systems as a standard feature with its new homes.

Los Angeles-based KB Home has named Tom Silk senior VP marketing and communications. Silk will be responsible for the home builder’s marketing, advertising, communications and social media outreach across its U.S. home-building operations.

Los Angeles-based KB Home has unveiled Primera Terra, one of the largest communities of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum-certified homes in California, according to the home builder. The 52 luxury condominium homes in Playa Vista are built with sustainable materials and are equipped with energy- and water-saving features.
