Lumber and building material buying cooperatives PAL and ENAP announced they have signed a non-binding Letter of Intent to merge. The companies enjoy strong dealer support in the Midwest and East markets, respectively.

ENAP, the New Windsor, N.Y.-based LBM co-op, has announced the opening of a sales office in Monroe, La. The new office is part of ENAP’s regional growth strategy as the organization continues to expand its membership base in the South and into the Southwest. ENAP has hired industry veteran Robert Carson as VP business development to direct staff and operations in the region.

Russell Kennedy retired as president and CEO of ENAP, the New Windsor, N.Y.-based lumber and building material co-operative.

On an interim basis, CFO Steve Sallah will be acting chief operating officer.

Kennedy led the co-op -- the name is an acronym for "Everybody Needs a Profit" -- for the past five years. In a prepared statement, he pointed to his appreciation to and confidence in the current ENAP team.
