Marion, Va.-based Royal Building Products has added U.S. Lumber to its Southeast and Mid-Atlantic distribution network, the company announced Monday.

“With the rapid growth of new, low-maintenance product alternatives, we are constantly adding high-quality brands that deliver on that promise to our contractor-oriented, pro-yard customers," said Jeff McClendon, president of U.S. Lumber. "The Royal brand is a perfect addition to that list.”

PPG Industries has taken a minority equity position in The Coatings Alliance, LLC via its North American architectural coatings business.

Under the terms of the deal, PPG will become the exclusive paint manufacturer for The Coatings Alliance, producing the TCA-owned C2 Paint brand. PPG will also act as an independent sales representative for C2 Paint to independent paint and decorating retailers throughout North America.

Lowe's has renewed its partnership with Habitat for Humanity in a five-year, $23.5 million deal that will continue the decade-long collaboration between the entities.

Additionally, Lowe's Heroes employee volunteers will continue supporting Habitat efforts via the donation of volunteer hours.

The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company has turned to Velcro Industries to help it enhance packaging for its Scotts EZ Seed grass seed with Velcro-brand Press-Lok closure technology.

The leading marketer of branded consumer lawn and garden products and Velcro Industries worked with manufacturer Peel Plastics Products, a recognized leader in product and process innovation, to integrate Velcro Industries' Press-Lok closure technology into Scotts' grass seed package.

Edible Garden, a hydroponic herb and produce subsidiary of Terra Tech Corp, has signed a distribution deal with Indianapolis-based Heartland Growers.

The move seeks to expand Edible Gardens' presence in the Midwest, with Heartland cultivating, packaging and shipping its full line of produce in the region.

IKEA has installed three Blink electric vehicle charging stations at its Frisco, Texas, store location, marking the tenth IKEA store in the United States to expand the service.

Drivers using the service can simply tap their Blink InCard, plug the charger into the station and shop at IKEA while they wait.

At the moment, installation is under way at seven other IKEA locations, with a current planned total of 55.

Launching its third annual Holiday Pet Food Drive, Springfield, Mass.-based Rocky’s Ace Hardware teamed with Nutro Pet Foods to help homeless and abandoned pets. The drive runs now through Dec. 23. 

Each of the 32 Rocky’s Ace Hardware stores have partnered with an area Humane Society or Shelter to collect food this Holiday Season for the much forgotten and unfortunate animals in our own community.

Ace Hardware Corp. released its third-quarter earnings report today to the generally positive results of 8.9% growth in revenues since 2012, but more of the same in terms of income.

The hardware cooperative netted $1.0 billion in revenues for the third quarter, an increase of $84.4 million over the same quarter in 2012.

Meanwhile, net income came in at $34.4 million, little changed since 2012's figure of $34.3 million.

Fiberon has announced its partnership with Monsma Marketing Corp., a Michigan-based building materials distributor serving the Midwest.

Fiberon's PVC and composite decking, railing and fencing products will be distributed to lumberyards and home improvement centers in Michigan and Indiana, backed up by Monsma's 15 years of experience with distributing composite decking products.

Whirlpool Corporation employees will be working alongside Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County and students at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., on the construction of a new home this fall.

The new home is being built for Chris Schaaf, a champion golfer in the Special Olympics, in a new neighborhood amongst other Whirlpool-sponsored Habitat homes from the previous three consecutive years.

The event will also serve as an informal recruitment opportunity for Kelley School of Business students.

AGCO is teaming up with Russian Machines on a new joint venture involving the manufacture and distribution of agricultural equipment in Russia.

Operations are expected to begin in early 2014 at a facility in Golitsyno, near Moscow. Together, the two companies will have equal ownership and will invest approximately $100 million over the next three years. The vision involves AGCO bringing more of its high-tech products to Russia, with Russian Machines facilitating production and local business development.

Cemex and Concrete Supply Co. have announced their plans to form a joint venture in the Carolinas. The new company will be known as Concrete Supply Co., LLC and will boast a production capacity of 2 million cubic yards.

Based in Charlotte, N.C., Concrete Supply Holdings Co. will be the majority owner and managing member.

Boston -- Orgill merchandisers and store designers unveiled the Cobblestone Hardware concept store, one of the centerpieces of the market floor.

The store revealed a number of tweaks to previous market showpieces. In its 10,000 sq. ft. of selling space, Cobblestone packed in all the usual suspects, plus a healthy dose of Dollar Central program products and "As Seen On TV" merchandise.

Hertz is placing itself in direct competition with automated car-rental services like Zipcar this summer, a move that could have an impact on parking lots of home centers.

According to Bloomberg, Hertz is partnering with Lowe's and Walgreens (among others) in order to expand its presence via kiosks in place of having to buy additional property.
