(Feb. 10) Louisiana-Pacific, the Nashville, Tenn.-based producer of oriented strand board, exterior siding and other specialty building products, has named John Weaver to its board of directors. Weaver is the former executive chairman of AbitiBowater, one of Canada’s largest suppliers of paper, pulp and lumber.

Weaver served as president and CEO of Abitibi-Consolidated from 1999 to October 2007 and held a number of senior executive positions in operations and sales with the company prior to that. His career in the forest products industry began in 1974.

The LP board also voted on Feb. 4 to increase the size of the board from eight directors to nine.
