(Dec. 16) Benton Harbor, Mich.-based appliance manufacturer Whirlpool Corporation recently named William Perez, former president and CEO of Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, to its board of directors.

"With his exceptionally strong business leadership and deep consumer experience, we expect Bill will bring significant value to our board and company," said chairman and chief executive officer Jeff Fettig.

Perez, 62, served as president and CEO of Wrigley from 2006 to 2008 when it was acquired by Mars Inc. Prior to that he served as president and CEO of Nike from 2004 to 2006, and president and CEO of S.C. Johnson from 1996 to 2004.
