(Sep. 8) Central Garden & Pet has named Jeffrey Blade chief financial officer. He will report to William Brown, chairman and CEO.

Prior to this new appointment, Blade was interim president of the Steak 'N Shake Co. and previously served as its chief financial and administrative officer. Other positions include CFO of Cott Beverages’ United States Operations and roles at Kraft Foods’ finance organization. Prior to Kraft Foods, Blade was part of the audit practice at Price Waterhouse.

"Jeff's strong financial and operational experience will be instrumental as we seek to drive further margin and capital efficiency improvements across the business, and as we pursue new growth strategies," Brown said.
