Lowe’s opens first store in Western Canada

Lowe’s Canada opened its first of three stores slated for the western city of Calgary Sept. 20, according to the Calgary Herald.

The 100,000-sq.-ft. store just north of Calgary city limits is the company’s 17th store in Canada and first outside of Ontario. It marks a major geographical expansion following two and a half years of steadily expanding outward from the Toronto area.

Lowe’s Canada previously announced plans to expand into the Calgary area with three stores by the end of 2010.
