Pamela Forbes Lieberman, former president and CEO of True Value, has been named to the advisory board of WHI Capital Partners, a Chicago-based private equity firm, the company announced.
Lieberman joined True Value -- then known as TruServ -- as chief financial officer in March 2001, leading the co-op from the brink of bankruptcy to a strategic, financial, operating and culture turnaround. Later that year, she was promoted to CEO.
Lieberman resigned from True Value in late 2004, making way for current president and CEO Lyle Heidemann, who joined the company in June 2005.
Before coming to TruServ, Lieberman was senior vp and CFO of ShopTalk, a start-up voice application software company. Earlier, she had held executive positions at Martin-Brower, one of the largest distributors in the McDonalds system; Fel-Pro, an internationally renowned automotive parts company; Bunzl Building Supply; and Kraft Foods.
“We are confident Pamela’s insight and experience, both with Fortune 1000 and mid-size companies, will prove to be an invaluable resource,” said Eric Cohen, managing partner of WHI Capital Partners.
WHI Capital Partners invests in leading niche manufacturing, value-added distribution and specialty service companies with revenues from $10 million to 100 million.
